Bumblebee Officially Reboots Entire Transformers Franchise Confirms Hasbro

Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ TV Series Introduces a New Map of Middle-earth

By Kelvin Owens

It’s officially been announced that Bumblebee will be a reboot of the Transformers film franchise. The Transformers brand made some noise at the New York Toy Fair 2019 and probably its biggest announcement was Hasbro confirming that Bumblebee will be rebooting the Transformers franchise.

2007’s Transformers was the beginning of a five-film franchise directed by Michael Bay. Last year, a spin-off film by the name of Bumblebee directed by Travis Knight, though produced by Michael Bay, had fans questioning if the studio was really just spinning off from the franchise or rebooting it.

Bumblebee was referred to as being “a new storytelling universe,” which suggests the success of the newest Transformers film is going to lead to a whole new continuity for the Transformers movies going forward. The panel also revealed new details on the recently announced Transformers: War for Cybertron prequel series heading to Netflix in 2020.

Hasbro made the confirmation today at their product presentation which should excite fans of the franchise who appreciated Bumblebee‘s tone being closer to the original cartoon series, as well as the robot designs themselves.

The sequel to Bumblebee is reportedly already in the early stages of development.

Directed by Travis Knight from a script written by Christina Hodson, the film stars Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, John Cena, Stephen Schneider, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Ian Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, and Grace Dzienny.

Bumblebee will be available on Digital March 19, followed by the 4K UHD and Blu-ray release on April 2.
