James Wan to Produce Stephen King Novel Salem's Lot

Avengers: Endgame - Things you need to know

By Kelvin Owens

“The Conjuring” franchise duo of director/producer James Wan and writer/producer Gary Dauberman are teaming up for a new film adaptation of Stephen King’s famed vampire novel “Salem’s Lot” at New Line.

The 1975 novel follows a writer who returns to his hometown to write about an abandoned mansion which was just bought by a mysterious man. He soon realises that townspeople are slowly being turned into vampires, and the writer bands together with a ragtag group to stop their spread.

Dauberman (“IT,” “The Nun”) will write the script and serve as executive producer while Wan will produce along with Roy Lee and Mark Wolper. The project has no director at this stage.

The property was previously adapted as a telemovie by Tobe Hooper in 1979 and a mini-series starring Rob Lowe in 2004, but neither is considered a particularly definitive adaptation.
