Kevin Smith Says A Batman Beyond Movie With Michael Keaton Would Make $1 Billion

By Kelvin Owens

Kevin Smith recently revisited the subject of Batman Beyond during a podcast where he stated that the film would make over $1 billion if Michael Keaton came back to play Bruce Wayne.

During the latest episode of his Fat Man on Batman podcast the recent anniversary of the show’s premiere was brought up. Smith then mentioned that they should do a live action version of the film. Co-host Marc Bernardin then mentioned that they should have Micheal Keaton return to the role of Bruce Wayne for the film. At this point, Kevin Smith became very excited.
Fatman on Batman is a podcast and video series in which host and filmmaker Kevin Smith explores his geeky interests, originally focusing on the DC comic property Batman. The show is part of the SModcast Podcast Network
At one point Kevin went on a bit of a fun rant:
What you just witnessed was my c** face. That would be f****** amazing. Could you imagine? Oh my God…that movie makes a billion, right there man. If you’re like Michael Keaton’s coming back, people like ‘how is that possible’ and you’re like ‘because he’s Batman Beyond B****’ and people are ‘oh f*** we wanted this our whole lives!’ This is f****** good and I am down with this. When can we go?

I think they should give this movie to Kevin Smith, he has the skills to direct superheroes. He has done it with the CW shows, so why not one of the big screen?

The original Batman Beyond series aired from 1999-2001 and focused on a new protege of Bruce Wayne taking up the mantle of Batman in a futuristic Gotham City. The show reportedly ended as resources and creative teams were shifted over to the Justice League animated series, although the series did have some closure in Justice League: Unlimited episode, Epilogue that revealed several of the characters’ eventual fates. And from the look of things, Kevin Smith wants to see this story come to life.
