Marvel's Phase 4 Has A Five-Year Plan

Akira Live-Action Movie Synopsis Reveals Differences to Anime

Just last month, Disney acquired the 20th Century Fox and with it came the return of Marvel Comics X-Men, Deadpool and The Fantastic Four to Marvel Studios. That made fans feel excited about the prospect of these characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but according to the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Fayge, they probably do not have to rely on it to happen soon. In fact, Feige has revealed that Marvel Studios is already planning the next five years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and these new characters are not seen as part of the equation.

The film that will kickstart Phase 4 is Spider-Man: Far From Home, to be released this summer. After that, the future remains slightly uncertain. Dark phoenix will lead to the end of the 20th century Fox iteration of mutant superheroes now that the studio was purchased by Disney. So restarting the X-Men is inevitable in the hands of Marvel Studios. But when Kevin Feige was asked by io9 about the opportunity to bring them to the MCU, that's what he had to say while:

– It'll take a while. This is just the beginning and the five-year plan that we worked on, and we worked before any of them was determined. So it really is much more for us, less about the specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more, just the comfort factor and how nice it is at home. That everyone is back. But it will be a very long time. "

That's right, there are five years of films planned at Marvel Studios, and since they have not worked on the assumption that X-Men or some other Marvel Comics property in the 20th Century Fox will officially return home while the deal is not closed, they did not include them in these plans.

Of course, this does not mean that these plans can not be changed. After all, how long Marvel Studios was about to do Inhumans movie with Vin Diesel as a black bolt? A few years and a terrible, canceled show later and see where we are now. Plus, there was a time when Spider Man was not meant to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now he's one of the most beloved characters in it. So, even though the X-Men are not included in any plans at the moment, it does not mean they will not appear earlier than expected.

In addition, let's not forget that this question is specific to X-Men. Notice how Faye says nothing about the Fantastic Four, which would have been easier to fit with the MCU in its current form. Deadpool is the farthest, and is likely to continue his own adventures while making a colorful commentary on the status of his own franchise and is officially part of Marvel Studios. It's unlikely that Kevin Feyge will do much to get involved with the successful formula, but he can give Deadpooll some great new toys to play with.

So what can fans expect from the next five years on the MCU? Feige does not give any hints, although we know a black Widow movie, and for beginners franchise Eternal and Shang-Chi is working. But he offered this obscure setting for the next films:

"The braid we are building over the next five years [is] not apples for apples. These are two very different things and I hope they feel very different. But there is a similar mentality, which is "How can we continue to tell stories with some of the characters the audience already knows and loves in a unique way, differently, in a surprising way, from which we have many plans and ideas and work that already has entered her? [Then] "How can we introduce new heroes that even hardcore fans, comic fans, are barely known or hardly heard." This is really exciting. "

Really, when Avengers: End of the game brings The Infinity Saga to the end, fans will be very curious to see what Marvel Studios has in their sleeves. And it will be interesting to see if they continue to appear for these films in the same way that they went out for the rest of Marvel's cinematic physics universe.

Avengers: End Game opens April 26, 2019,
