Abandon ship! The writers that Disney had tapped for their reboot of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise have reportedly left the project, according to  Deadline.  Now that Johnny Depp is out as Jack Sparrow, will the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise survive? As if losing Depp isn’t bad enough, some more bad news for the next film in the franchise as Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have left Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean reboot.

The two writers are reportedly too overwhlemed with other projects to continue work on the upcoming Pirates film. The news was first reported by Deadline. It was recently reported that Disney was moving forward with the franchise with the man that many believe to be the franchise in Johnny Depp, who’s Captain Jack Sparrow has beena mainstay throughout the series of films and it seems it wil be a gamble to continue without him, though Disney is said to be saving a bunch of money by doing so.

The Deadline piece also stated that there are rumblings of a Pirates of the Caribbean television show that would air on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.
